Glad to hear you’re on the mend Mitch, continuing your excellent artistry during these trying times. As a devoted reader and student of Joseph Murphy’s methods (The Power of your Subconscious Mind was my gateway drug to New Thought/mind metaphysics) I appreciate your admiring yet critical take on his philosophy. As you’ve noted before Murphy, especially in his later books, tended to fall back on a boiler plate model of metaphysical catechism, which can come across as intellectually shallow as well as exuding an air of victim blaming.

With that said I’ve gleaned some manner of correspondence between what Murphy and other classic New Thought writers described as engaging in constant prayer or affirmation to mitigate the effects of the “race mind” individually and collectively and the Hermetic method of rising in consciousness to break free of the binding cosmic forces of Fate(all much easier said than done, of course). I agree that The Kybalion presents the most measured view point, acknowledging the complex framework of physical limitations we live under as a species while encouraging the development of our transcendent potential.

I think Neville’s concise but powerful exhortation to “do the loving thing”, in both metaphysical practice and physical action, remains the gold standard in any and all circumstances. Thanks as always for the gift of your perspective.
